Sheffield Hallam University
Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) is a Higher Education institution based in the South Yorkshire city of Sheffield, England. The university is based on two sites in Sheffield. City Campus is in the city centre, adjacent to Sheffield railway station, and Collegiate Crescent Campus is about two miles away, adjacent to Ecclesall Road in southwest Sheffield. The University is the sixth largest in the UK, with 30,000 students, over 4,000 staff and 650 courses. The last Research Assessment Exercise in 2001 placed SHU joint top amongst the newer universities.
 
University of Lincolnshire and Humberside
The University of Lincoln is an English university in Lincolnshire whose origins can be traced back to the 19th century. Originally founded in 1861 as the Hull School of Art, the University of Lincoln proper (in its current form) is a relatively modern 21st century development. The founding of the Brayford Campus in 1996 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, further revitalised and elevated the cathedral city of Lincoln. The Independent describes the university as "the best thing to happen to Lincoln since the Romans".
 
Leeds Metropolitan University
Leeds Metropolitan University is a university with two campuses in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It came into existence as a chartered university in 1992; prior to this date it was known as Leeds Polytechnic. As of May 2006, the overall number of students at the University is officially given as 'over 52,000'. In June 2007, Leeds Met received recognition of its environmentally friendly attitude by being ranked number one in the UK in the Green League 2007; a ranking of sustainability in the higher education sector, compiled by People & Planet. In September 2009, subject to approval, the University will become Leeds Carnegie University'.
 
University of Leeds
The University of Leeds is a major teaching and research university in Leeds, West Yorkshire and, with over 33,000 full-time students, one of the largest universities in the United Kingdom. It is a member of the Russell Group and is ranked in the top ten of UK universities for market share of research funding. Dating back to the establishment of the Leeds School of Medicine in 1831 and consolidated as a university in 1904, it is one of the six original civic 'red brick' universities, and in 2006 was ranked second in the UK for the number of applications received.
 
University of Hull
The University of Hull, also known as Hull University, is an English university, founded in 1927, located in Hull (or Kingston upon Hull), a city in the East Riding of Yorkshire. The main campus is located on Cottingham Road in the north west of the city while a smaller campus is located in nearby Scarborough. The main campus is also home to the Hull York Medical School, a joint initiative with the University of York. The university was once the workplace of the poet Philip Larkin who was Librarian of the Brynmor Jones Library. It was also once the workplace of current poet laureate Andrew Motion and the late film director Anthony Minghella.
 
Bradford University
The University of Bradford is a university in Bradford, West Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. Formed from a technical college in 1966, there are three campuses: the main campus, located on Richmond Road, the School of Health, on Trinity Road, and the School of Management, at Emm Lane. According to The Times Good University Guide 2008, the University of Bradford is the 48th best university in the country. It has roughly 12,000 students enrolled, of which almost a third are mature students. Almost 25% of students are international students, and come from over 100 countries. 92% of the university's domestic students come from the state sector.
